On the Edge of Greatness

Have you ever felt like you were on the edge of something great happening for you? Have you ever had the feeling that something you’ve been working on was finally about to work in your favor? Have you ever sensed something big was going to happen, and it would be impossible for the world not to see it? This describes how I have been feeling for the last few months. I haven’t been able to share my sentiments about it with anyone…until now.

I’ve been doing music as an independent artist for more than a decade.  This journey has come with its ups & downs but I wouldn’t trade it for nothing.  Late night sessions, rehearsing with my band when I’m tired, lonely road trips, missing family while being away, recording sessions while everyone else is hanging out, live performances while overcoming my own insecurities.  I have won countless awards yet I feel as if I am just scratching the surface...

3 Things I learned from Pops

My father and I had a very different kind of relationship. Growing up on the Northside of Milwaukee I was one of very few individuals in my neighborhood who actually had a relationship with my father. Some of my friends didn't even know what their father looked like but they could tell you about his character, or the lack their of, due to the information shared to them by their mothers. My father was far from perfect, but he was definitely present. My father volunteered at my school, he was actively present at my games, and he taught me alot of transferable skills that I carry with me to this day.

My father transitioned in the fall of 2022 and I am still navigating through this grieving process. Some days are great, and there are other days where it feels like I can't find the strength to move past the moment. 3 Keys to Effective Networking

I had a great time here in Chicago for this B.E.T. Mens Summit. This is my 2nd year coming to the men's summit but this year was much different than last year for MANY reasons.

Last year when I walked into this space I didn't feel like I belonged there. I knew there were MANY things I personally hadn't achieved yet. I felt like I needed to have more public wins before I deserved to have access to these kinds of spaces.

I had to reassess my mindset concerning this. Who am I to dictate when or how God blesses me? THAT IS NOT ABOUT TO HAPPEN!! Last year I felt undeserving, THIS YEAR I became a peer.
